DESCRIPTION:Join fashion and textile designer and printmaker Beca Lipscombe in conversation with Dan Brown\, DCA’s Head of Exhibitions\, as they explore the work of France-Lise McGurn through the lens of their shared experience of growing up in Scotland’s Central Belt during the 1980s and 1990s. \nFrom the legacy of Scottish muralism to the rise of emergent fast fashion\, Lipscombe and Brown will trace the cultural transformation of Scotland during a period of industrial decline\, examining how changing public spaces\, consumer culture\, and visual identity shaped everyday life. Their discussion will consider the intersections of fashion\, art\, memory\, and place\, offering fresh perspectives on the social and cultural landscapes that inform McGurn’s practice.

It’s a simple quick-fire format – speakers show 20 images\, each for 20 seconds. You can watch all previous talks online\, or use our randomiser if it’s too hard to choose! \nAlways different\, entertaining and inspiring; there’s something for everyone at this event which first started in Tokyo in 2003 and has now grown into a global phenomenon.
