CODE Souvenir Dundee is a catalogue of gift items designed and made by our local designers here in Dundee!
You will find a vast array of locally designed and made items from ceramics and pottery, to printmaking and illustration, to jewellery and knitwear, and more! Easy to carry and transport, all of the products in the catalogue evoke a sense of Dundee in their subject, materials, or through the story they tell.
The catalogue is a tool to connect buyers with designers; to act as a resource for local stockists looking to include more local design in their offer, and for designers to elevate their businesses. Publicly available, aimed at corporate purchasers, retailers and the general public, CODE Souvenir Dundee is a place for tourists to find mementos of their visits, for local people to find the perfect gifts and for organisations to showcase local design talent.
CODE Souvenir is an original concept, developed by fellow UNESCO City of Design, Montréal and launched in 2010. Since then Montréal have produced five catalogues profiling the wealth of talent in their city, increasing sales, and supporting the success of local designers.
In January 2020, an open call was put out to local designers to submit their designs and products for the catalogue. A selection panel hand-picked Dundee’s first selection of CODE Souvenir products. The members of the panel were Stacey Hunter, founder and director or Local Heroes; Joanne MacFadyen of Tea Green Events; Alan Birch, Retail Manager at V&A Dundee; Dorothy Arnott, Marketing Manager at Halley Stevensons; and Poppy Jarratt, Desk Officer at UNESCO City of Design Dundee. Over 50 items were selected by the judges to be included in the very first edition of CODE Souvenir Dundee.
