Get ready for Whale of a Weekend, a festival celebrating art, science, polar exploration, and Scottish cultural heritage, all centred around the fascinating world of whales and Scotland’s links to the sub-Antarctic island of South Georgia. Produced by Dundee-based South Georgia Heritage Trust, this exciting event brings together storytelling, science, and creativity for all ages.

Dundee will come alive with exciting events along the waterfront, at Discovery Point, and at V&A Dundee. There’s something for everyone in the family to enjoy, from hands-on activities to inspiring talks by explorers, artists and scientists.

You will also be able to check out the Whalers’ Memory Bank, a special, interactive digital time capsule where veterans of the whaling industry, their families, and communities have been sharing their stories and memories with the world. It’s a wonderful opportunity to connect, learn, and celebrate together and hear their stories from their time on the other side of the world in the sub-Antarctic.
