THE SR:D 2022 Fashion Festival saw its second iteration take place across Dundee and beyond. We were delighted to support the festival through hosting the SR:D Pop Up Shop at Dundee Design House featuring collections from local and national designers, and commissioning Nine Angels to create bespoke awards.
Based on her eco-friendly lamp designs using the sustainable material of jesmonite, we worked with Dundee based Designer, Melissa Latto of Nine Angels to adapt her designs into the form of award trophies. We wanted to commission an award which would double up as a beautiful, practical object as well as marking the celebration of winning an award. We felt that Melissa’s lamps perfectly fit that brief.
With the support of Halley Stevensons‘ sponsorship, we worked with Melissa to select the jesmonite and jute colour palates, as well as adding bespoke engraved wooden bases, fabricated and engraved by local designer, Aymeric Renoud of draff studio.
“I was thrilled to be commissioned to make lamps for the SR:D Fashion Festival awards. The idea of making something beautiful, yet functional, for the winners to treasure really spoke to me and incorporating the jute cables into my design was the icing on the cake. I loved seeing all the incredibly talented winners sharing their awards; it was the highlight of my year!”

The 2022 SR:D Fashion Festival Awards Ceremony was held at V&A Dundee’s Tatha Bar & Kitchen and celebrated the talent from across Scotland’s Fashion Industry. We were delighted to attend and present the Fashion Assistant Award to winner, Christie Wanless of Isolated Heroes.
