City of Design Saint-Etienne are looking for case studies on creative urban experimentations from Dundee for the Human Cities – Challenging the City Scale exhibition at the 2017 Saint-Etienne Design Biennale .
Human Cities – Challenging the City Scale is a multidisciplinary platform made up of 12 partners, 4 of which are from UNESCO Creative Cities. The European network is composed of : Politecnico di Milano, Milan [IT] ; Urban Planning Institute of the Republic of Slovenia, Ljubljana [SI] – UCC Litterature ; Clear Village, London[UK] ; Zamek Cieszyn [PL] ; Design Week Belgrade [RS] ; Pro Materia, Brussels[BE] ;Aalto University, Helsinki [FI] – UCC Design ; FH Joanneum, Graz [AT] – UCC Design ; Association of Estonian designers, Tallinn [EST] ; BEAZ/Bilbao-Bizkaia Design&Creativity Council, Bilbao [ES] – UCC Design ; CultureLab, Brussels [BE], Cité du design Saint-Etienne [FR] – UCC Design.
The City of Design Saint-Etienne team are keen to showcase in the exhibition a selection of projects from UNESCO Creative Cities and they are looking for 1 or 2 case studies about creative urban experimentations led in Dundee. The project should be no more than 2-3 years old and look at where people, together with designers challenge the city scale and spaces and demonstrate the potential of the designer as an empathic mediator, connector between citizens, communities and local governments and offer a spotlight to global experiences of social innovation, particularly those taking the form of urban interventions.
