Islay Spalding is a contemporary jewellery designer and owner of Double Door Studios - a shared work and exhibition space for jewellers and designers in Dundee. She specialises in bespoke Kilt Pins and regularly works on commissioned pieces for private customers. Inspired by landscapes, the real and surreal and the beauty of the between, Islay describes her jewellery work as evolving collections of unique pieces. These range from colourful and curvy Biomorphs and Small Worlds to bold and geometric Biocubes, Oddgons and the latest Dundee Collection which the three pieces here belong to. The Twin Delta Studs feature the stripy triangle shape used across the range, reminiscent of the V&A Dundee building with the ridged design and mix of oxidised finish and burnished edges. The V&A and Road Bridge Pendant and Vanishing Point Kilt Pin take inspiration from the bold shapes of the ever changing Dundee waterfront.
