Michael and Julie Barclay have been working in design for over 30 years, using their skills as an art and design teacher and graphic designer to help others discover the vitality, excitement and importance of these skills. Now, with Fred’s Lesson, they’ve pooled their talents to create a capsule collection of high-quality, handmade, textile-based, environmentally aware products. Fred was Michael and Julie’s art college lecturer. He inspired their shared passion for design, style, textiles and, above all, drawing. Fred’s lesson is at the heart of all their work. Hand-drawn, striking graphics with bold shapes and eye-catching colours. Fred’s Lesson is Michael and Julie’s way of sharing their obsession for design. Having met at Edinburgh College of Art, it’s no coincidence that they now live in Dundee, Scotland’s City of Design. Wherever they are, they’re constantly looking for new ideas for Fred’s Lesson.
