Laura Darling is a Dundee based illustrator who uses illustration as a means of understanding her surroundings; people; places; histories.
Born in Fife, Laura grew up in the Scottish Borders and studied Illustration at Edinburgh College of Art. She has lived and worked in Dundee since 2007 and works in a shed at the bottom of her garden.
Laura’s practice is guided by noticing. She uses illustration as a means of understanding her surroundings; people; places; histories. Being directed by observation leads Laura to illustrate myriad topics that may delight, educate, amuse or challenge.
Primarily working in pencil, paint and ink, she combines hand-drawn layers using traditional and digital printing methods, creating playful and engaging illustrations.
